David Nail Releases New EP, Uncovered, Featuring Cover Songs

One of my favorite country music voices, MCA Nashville and GRAMMY®-nominated recording artist David Nail, announced today that the release of his fourth studio album, Fighter, will be on July 15th.  The lead single, “Night’s On Fire,” penned by Jonathan Singleton and Deric Ruttan, sits at No. 17 and continues to climb the country singles chart.

To keep his fans happy in the meantime, Nail decided to release a special EP Uncovered, featuring four cover songs that have influenced him both personally and musically. An additional fifth track, a remake of “Looking For A Good Time” from his critically-acclaimed debut album I’m About To Come Alive is also included.

“As I looked ahead to begin the process of recording my fourth studio album for MCA Nashville, I looked back at everything I have been through as an artist, as a man, as a husband and now as a new Dad.  I realized that music is one thing I lean on consistently to get me through or remind me how lucky I am to be doing what I love,” said Nail in a release. “I am really blessed to be at this place in life with my wife and now our two children and the one consistent thread through it ALL has been music. Music has been so important in my walk to ‘here.’ I am really excited to be able to share some of the music, outside of my own, that has meant something to me. Some of these songs have been with me for years and some obviously are brand new discoveries that have had an impact on me for various reasons. This is just a small taste of some of the music that has challenged me,  music that I enjoy performing, listening to, or that I have related to in some capacity along the way in my journey to Fighter.”

Uncovered  Track Listing:
Elvis, “In the Ghetto”
The Weeknd, “Can’t Feel My Face”
Phil Collins, “In The Air Tonight”
Adele, “Send My Love (To Your New Lover)”
David Nail, “Looking For A Good Time”

Here's what Nail had to say about how he chose the tracks on the EP.

Elvis - In the Ghetto
“’In The Ghetto’ is the song that kind of began the conversation of starting this project.  It was the first cover song that I really tried to make my own.  I have never liked listening to myself sing, but I've enjoyed this one.  It gives me chills.”

The Weeknd - Can’t Feel My Face
“We had to do something off the wall for this project, thus our attempt at this huge pop hit.  It was the most fun we had recording, and certainly the most laid back of any of the Uncovered songs.”

Phil Collins - In The Air Tonight
“I've heard rumors over the years at the story behind ‘In The Air Tonight,’ and it's a song that has stood the test of time for sure.  It was probably the most difficult song from a performance standpoint.  We really wanted the lyric to stand out, and for the story to be our #1 priority.  It's a very haunting track.”

Adele - Send My Love (To Your New Lover)
“I believe Adele is the finest vocalist I've ever heard, which makes any cover extremely difficult. The first listen to this song when the album was released blew me away, and when it came time to begin this Uncovered series, it was my definite first choice.”

Nail’s original remake of Looking For A Good Time
“A member of my team found this song for the first record, and it's been one of my favorites I've ever recorded.  When we opened for Lady Antebellum on their first headlining tour, we started a show with a version very similar to this one.  It's a fantastic lyric, and I believe the broken down/slower version really puts you inside the story.”

Kenny Chesney and Old Dominion #SpreadtheLove at Mohegan Sun!

Kenny Chesney and Old Dominion played two sold out shows over the weekend at Mohegan Sun's Arena in Uncasville, CT.  The spring stops at the casino have become somewhat of a tradition, and much sought after ticket, for Chesney as he embarks on his massive stadium tours each year.

Old Dominion, made up of Matthew Ramsey (lead vocals), Trevor Rosen (guitar, keyboard), Whit Sellers (drums), Brad Tursi (guitar), and Geoff Sprung (bass guitar), recently celebrated their first number-one hit with "Break Up With Him" and have enjoyed the success of "Snapback" as it has been steadily climbing the charts.  Their set featured almost the entirety of their debut album, "Meat and Candy".  Old Dominion offers something for everyone including songs leaning towards young and hip ("Wrong Turns") to sweet and timeless ("Song for Another Time").

The best part of the arena tour stopping at Mohegan is the proximity to the artists and having a huge name like Chesney come through is no exception.  Chesney's laid back beach vibe came through even as he brought the tour inside with hits "No Shoes, No Shirt, No Problem" and "Anything But Mine".  The acoustics of the venue are fantastic and Chesney sounded fantastic throughout out the night.  Chesney's problem of course, is having so many hits to try to cram into one setlist.  The Friday show at Mohegan included fan favorites "Beer in Mexico", "You and Tequila", and "I Go Back".  For "Save it for a Rainy Day", Chesney welcomed the Ramsey and Tursi, who wrote the song, back to stage.  Finally, Chesney concluded the show with the always fun, "She Thinks My Tractor's Sexy" and "Just Don't Happen Twice".  Chesney, as always, brought the energy and sunshine.  He stayed on stage after the encore, signing for many fans in the sandbar and giving his guitar away to a lucky audience member.  Even those fans that didn't go away with a Chesney autograph went home happy after the jam packed, spirted set.

The Spread the Love Tour will visit Gillette Stadium on August 26 and 27.  Limited tickets are available for the Friday night shows here.  Click here to check out the rest of the dates.

Cole Swindell Announces Plans to Embark on USO Tour in 2016 and Gift Digital Downloads of New Album to Service Members Through the USO in May

Cole Swindell has teamed up with the USO to honor America’s service members and celebrate the organization’s 75th anniversary. With plans to embark on a USO tour in 2016, the singer/songwriter is asking fans to visit coleswindell.com and gift a digital copy of his brand new album “You Should Be Here” to an active duty service member from March 29th through May 31st. All copies will be distributed to military personnel by the USO in May, which is also National Military Appreciation Month. Swindell is also donating $1 from every new album gifted via his official store directly to the USO, to help further its mission to strengthen America's service members by keeping them connected to family, home and country throughout their military service.

“My song ‘You Should Be Here’ was written about missing a loved one and wishing they could be there with you to experience milestones and make memories,” Swindell said in a release. “No one knows the feeling of missing a loved one better than the men and women of our military and their families. And no one knows our service members and their loved ones better than the USO. They’ve been serving our nation’s military community for more than seven and a half decades, and it’s an honor to stand in support of them today.”

“The USO is sincerely grateful to Mr. Swindell for his outpouring of support,” said Juliet Gilliam, USO vice president of entertainment partnerships and talent relations. “With his help and generous contribution, the USO will provide an opportunity for many service members and military families around the world to feel more connected to family, home and country this year. As we near Military Appreciation Month, we look forward to working together more closely with Cole and continuing to create an even greater impact throughout the year.”

No stranger to the military, the country star’s late father, Keith Swindell, was an Air Force Sergeant and his fraternity brother and friend, Kyle Davis, served five tours in Afghanistan with the Special Forces. Swindell’s first public nod to military came in March 2015, with the release of his Billboard hit “Ain’t Worth the Whiskey.” The song not only paid tribute to those who serve our nation overseas but also featured Davis and former members of his military unit.
