Check out my favorite spots at Mohegan Sun!

Headed to Mohegan Sun this weekend?  Check out one of my favorite restaurants.

Tuscany - Italian

Tuscany, by world famous chef Todd English offers a wide array of handcrafted pasta.  They have dinner options that includes all the traditional American-Italian delicacies like chicken parm, veal marsala, or rack of lamb.  If you’re looking for a lighter option, I like to split an antipasto with a flatbread.  My favorite flatbread is the Tuscan with prosciutto, rosemary fig jam, and gorgonzola and fontina cheeses.  If you’re there for lunch they have an awesome lunch buffet for $24.95.  My family went to the champagne brunch last time around and was super impressed with the raw bar and was pleased they had such a huge variety.  Its $42 for adults but you probably won’t eat the rest of the day.

Sol Toro – Mexican

Sol de Toro is my favorite spot in Mohegan.  It has a huge variety of tequilas and can make you any kind of fancy cocktails.  They always seem to have friendly bartenders and start you off with hot chips and a great salsa (and you should add tableside guac, obviously).  My recommended menu item is adobo pork tacos (served with cilantro jicama slaw, grilled pineapple, jalapeƱo ranch)

Chick-fil-a – Fried Chicken

I know, I know.  Not exactly fine dining, but if you get stuck in Friday night traffic, it’s the perfect quick meal.  It’s located right across from the Wolf Den and is a great quick / low cost option.  It’s also right next to Frank Pepe’s pizza if Italian is more your speed.  Plus, think of how much more money you’ll have for the roulette wheel post show.  I fell in love with Chick-fil-a when I lived in North Carolina and I don’t have one close to home so it’s always a treat.  My recommendation is the original chicken sandwich (with pickles of course) and waffle fries with sweet tea.

Tom’s Urban – American Bar Food
Perfect for a quick app or sandwich.  They have a bunch of craft beer options and also make a mean cocktail.  They also have a wide menu of sandwiches, tacos, and pizzas.  Pizzas are a good size for sharing.  My recommendation is to start with the fried pickles and then share BBQ chicken pizza.

Other quick hit Mohegan tips-

*The hotel in the casino is beautiful.  If it’s in your price range, you can’t beat the convenience.  If you’re looking for something a little more cost friendly, the Microtel by Wyndham and the Hampton Inn by Hilton both offer free shuttles.  Both offer free breakfast (continental at Microtel – bagels, toast, cereal, and coffee and full hot buffet at the Hampton Inn – eggs, sausage, potatoes, toast, waffles, bagels, and cereals).  The Hampton Inn is a little further away but also has a great pool area.

*My favorite slot machine is the Double Diamond Deluxe.  Highly recommend.  They can be a little hard to find but the Triple Diamond Deluxe can be used in a pinch.

*There's a great race book with a nice bar full of craft beers.  You can get a free cocktail with an active race ticket so it's worth checking out.  If you're new to race betting, you can never go wrong with Jose or Irad Ortiz.  They're jockeys (and brothers) from Puerto Rico that are among the most consistent in the sport.

*If you’re late to the Wolf Den and it's full, try the bar right behind. Sometimes people move around and you might find your way up to the back wall which is a great view.  Also, standing along the outside of the den by the machines also offers up great acoustics.

*If you have a sweet tooth, check out Carlo’s BakeShop in the Casino of the Earth.

RUNAWAY JUNE CAUSES A SCENE IN THE “BROKEN HEARTS (DO BROKEN THINGS)” MUSIC VIDEO

NASHVILLE, TENN. (November 11, 2022) — “Based on a true story,” chart-topping all-female trio Runaway June is en route to the bar to help a heartbroken friend in today’s (11/11) CMT Broadcast Premiere of the neon-lit “BROKEN HEARTS (DO BROKEN THINGS)” music video. Appearing on the Paramount Times Square Billboard in New York City, as well as causing a scene on CMT Music and CMT.comWATCH HERE.

Directed by Taylor Kelly, member Stevie Woodward leads the fun-and-free clip, jumping headfirst into the chaos of heartbreak. Fast-catching major media attention, MusicRow calls the Mandi Sagal, Steve Fee, and Sarah Lake-penned anthem “a boatload of romping fun,” while Billboard applauds, “On their latest, this trio retains their cheery pop-country vibe, but delves deep into the not-so rational decisions one makes when their heart is splintered after a breakup.” With top-tier spotlights by E! NewsEntertainment Tonight, and more, check out a recent stripped-down performance of “BROKEN HEARTS (DO BROKEN THINGS)” on The Bobby Bones Show here.

Kenny Chesney Announced as Featured Guest for CRS 2023 “The Artist Interview”

(Nashville, Tenn. – Oct. 11, 2022) CRS is setting the stage for one of Country Music’s most iconic artists Kenny Chesney. The only Country Artist to appear on Billboard’s Top 10 Touring Acts of the Last 25 Years for the last 13 years will appear as the featured artist during “The Artist Interview” at CRS 2023. Through a rare and exclusive Q&A session presented by BMI, Chesney will speak about his astonishing career and details about what’s on the horizon.
CRS/CRB Executive Director RJ Curtis comments, “We’re thrilled to have Kenny join us at CRS ‘23 in March. There’s so much to talk about. He’s been an important and consistently relevant artist for three decades, entertaining millions of fans with a dynamic show that brings his massive catalog of hits to life one stadium at a time. Only a very few artists -- from any genre -- can claim this achievement, and Kenny Chesney lives in that rare air. We can’t wait for this session at CRS.”
The eight-time Entertainer of the Year has been called “The King of the Road” by the Wall Street Journal for selling a million-plus tickets on each of his full-sized tours since 2003. With his HERE AND NOW 2022 playing to over 1.3 million people with 21 stadium shows – after three different tour postponements to respect shifting health protocols –Billboard’s Artist with the Most #1 Country Singles expands his commitment to making music that reflects country fans’ lives.
The East Tennessee songwriter/superstar has maintained an adventurousness that still includes traditional country (2022’s No. 1 classic waltz “Knowing You”), as well as groundbreaking musical alliances. His duet partners run a gauntlet of Willie Nelson, P!nk, the Wailers, Uncle Kracker, George Strait, Dave Matthews and Grace Potter. His creative partnerships continue with “Beer With My Friends,” his current single with Old Dominion, which caps a summer tour that’s seen several new Chesney records, old favorites, new stadiums, and a return to live music that’s powerfully renewed the players and the fans.
“Music is such an important piece of people’s lives,” Chesney says. “I believe music is medicine. It changes lives, makes a difference and is there every step of the way. I can’t wait to dig in and talk about all these songs, all these moments and the journey to how we got there.”
Kenny Chesney last appeared at Country Radio Seminar in 2020, when he received the Country Radio Broadcasters (CRB) Artist Humanitarian Award. Chesney was honored for his exceptional humanitarian efforts exhibited during his career.
The discussion featuring Chesney will take place during CRS 2023 (March 13-15, 2023), at the Omni Nashville Hotel.
Registration for CRS 2023 is open and is $649 per person. Unlike previous years, New Faces of Country Music® Showcase tickets are sold separately for $100 per ticket. New Faces of Country Music Showcase tickets are limited and nearly sold out.
