Canaan Smith's EP, "Love You Like That" shows heartfelt lyrics and vocal range

Mercury Nashville recording artist Canaan Smith recently released the first single off his EP, Love You Like That. Smith, who has been on the road for two years since releasing “We Got Us” will be on the tour with Dierks BentleyKip Moore, and Maddie and Tae on the “Sounds of Summer”. Smith already has a top 10 hit under his belt, having co-written “Runaway” by Love and Theft. Smith also co-wrote “Black Tears” with Jason Aldean and will have a song co-written with Tyler Hubbard and Cole Swindell, “Party Wasn’t Over” on Swindell’s next album.

“Love You Like That” recently reached spot number #18 on the Billboard charts. The song gets your attention from the tip with lyrics like, “I could never do it like a pretty city boy, I’m more a fishin’ in the dark nitty gritty boy.” The song then takes almost a surprising, romantic turn with the “nitty-gritty boy” telling his love how he wants to love her.

“Love You Like That” leads into “Two Lane Road”, a sweet song where a boy invites a girl to run away with him. Smith’s strong vocal delivery is evident throughout the EP. “Mad Love” tells the story of one of those crazy break-up / make up relationships with Smith promising that the couple has what it takes to overcome those that doubt the relationship. “Hole In A Bottle” is an up-tempo good old fashioned drinking song. The highlight of the EP is the final track, “Stuck”. Smith’s vocals truly shine as he softly laments a lost love and a week spent at Virginia Beach.
